END WELL 2025

Ending well is living well. This year’s EndWell theme is Radical Bravery filled with story sharing and understanding how our narratives are filled with something countercultural yet intuitive when we decide to share our lived experiences in community. This year’s theme also highlights the everyday courage required to face grief, illness, caregiving, and dying—and the collective action needed to create a more compassionate world. Founded by Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider in 2017, End Well has become a leading movement redefining approaches to life’s end.

Rooster & Hen is attending for the first time this year as we have heard that this conference puts creative and compassionate storytelling at its core. And that is what we are about! There are writers, creatives, and producers, We cannot wait to connect with other helpers in the community and learn more ways to help our families and communities!

Grief in Every Language: Hands-On Tools for Reaching the Whole Child (Copy)

  • St. Luke's Magic Valley (Oak Rooms) (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

This one-day, interactive workshop offers a compassionate space to explore grief through the lens of how children learn and grow. Grounded in an understanding of cognitive, social, and emotional development, this session highlights the importance of honoring diverse learning styles when supporting children who are grieving.

Through dialogue, experiential activities, creative expression, and storytelling, this session offers a starting point for meaningful dialogue around how to stay flexible and curious in order to meet children where they are. Participants will actively engage with a range of developmentally-informed strategies. Together, we’ll explore how grief is processed differently depending on how a child receives and expresses information—whether through movement, art, language, play, reflection, or otherwise.

Participants will gain practical tools for modifying grief support to meet individual needs, and for creating emotionally attuned environments where children feel seen, heard, and supported. We’ll challenge grief myths, experiment with adaptable storytelling techniques, and build confidence in offering presence-driven, responsive support for all types of learners.

Graphic Novels for Jr. High Kids (Chicago Park District)

Graphic novels have become a beloved part of school literature—and for good reason! They boost literacy, spark a love of reading, and offer a vibrant, visual way for children to express emotions and ideas.

This summer, Rooster & Hen Resources is excited to partner with the Chicago Park District to bring the magic of graphic novels to Day Camp at Holstein Park! With our deep passion for storytelling and art-making, this creative collaboration is a natural fit—and we can't wait to share it with the campers.

Designed especially for our older campers (grades 6 and up), this graphic novel activity is all about personalization and creative freedom. Campers will design unique character profiles, choose from a variety of layout styles, and bring it all together in their own bound graphic novel. It’s a standout way to showcase their imagination—and swap stories with friends for even more inspiration all summer long!

Designed especially for our elementary campers (grades 3–5), this graphic novel activity brings back the charm of old-school comic books—short, fun, and full of personality! With bold frames, colorful dialogue, and plenty of pop, each camper will create a vintage-inspired graphic novel they can keep adding to. It’s a playful way for kids to share their thoughts, dreams, and everyday adventures in a bold format.

Training: Walking Alongside Children and Families in Hospice

This interactive training invites participants into a compassionate space to explore grief through lecture, discussion, and hands-on activities, with opportunities for reflection, creative expression, and shared wisdom.

Guided by both cultural insight and personal connection, we will deepen our capacity to support families by debunking myths around childhood bereavement, exploring different methods of storytelling, and looking at the importance of context. Together, we will move from intention to authentic presence to serve those navigating hospice.
