The National Alliance for Children’s Grief (NACG) Symposium is the longest-running and most comprehensive childhood bereavement event in the U.S., attracting over 500 grief support professionals and volunteers annually from around the world. The symposium features the latest research, clinical developments, and best practices for supporting grieving children and teens, as well as opportunities for networking and professional development through workshops and presentations on a wide range of topics related to children’s grief and program management.

Rooster & Hen Resources is looking forward to the 29th National Symposium on Children’s Grief, where we’ll be offering creative kits as goody bag items and hosting a creativity hub designed to encourage hands-on expression, reflection, and connection. We believe creativity can be a powerful companion in grief support, and we’re excited to share ideas that help children and families find meaningful ways to create and heal. We’ll also be attending to learn, grow, and continue building our knowledge alongside other professionals committed to supporting grieving children.

Time: 10:30 - 11:30am (CST)

Location: Virtual

Ripples of Grief: Honoring Personal, Cultural, and Collective Experience

Grief is not experienced in isolation—it ripples through relationships, families, and communities. This workshop explores how cultural worldviews, from individualistic to collectivistic, shape the ways grief is expressed and supported. Through storytelling and creative practices, participants will reflect on grief as both an internal journey and a communal experience. By widening the lens beyond the individual, this session deepens the understanding of holistic grief—recognizing that healing is rooted in culture, identity, and connection. Attendees will gain tools to support diverse grieving styles and foster inclusive environments across generations while also recognizing their own ripple effects from grief and loss.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Identify key differences between individualistic and collectivistic cultural approaches to grief, and how these perspectives shape mourning practices and support systems.

  2. Describe at least two ways grief functions as a holistic, relational experience that impacts individuals, families, and communities across generations.

Develop two to three culturally responsive strategies for integrating grief support into existing services and programs that serve diverse, intergenerational populations.

Central to Taiwan is Taichung where educators, ministers, caregivers, and parents from the south and north will gather to share stories and learn what it means to help children and families navigate loss, which is often silent and taboo in that culture. Rooster & Hen Resources will share thoughtful, approachable, creative, and youth-friendly ways to help start the conversation and create connection. No community is immune to grief and loss, whether near or far.

Childlife On Call Webinar
Date: February 25, 2026
Time: 12:00 - 1:00pm (CST)

Location: Virtual

Collectivistic values often shape how grief is expressed, understood, and supported—yet these values don’t always align with Western-based grief practices. In this webinar with Child Life On Call, we’ll explore how cultural nuances influence the ways Asian individuals and families may often experience loss, and why Asian communities may remain underrepresented in grief research and support spaces despite facing profound loss, especially in the wake of COVID-19 and recent hate crimes. Child life specialists will gain both perspective and practical strategies for integrating these cultural considerations into everyday programming, allowing them to offer more responsive, inclusive, and meaningful support.

END WELL 2025

Ending well is living well. This year’s EndWell theme is Radical Bravery filled with story sharing and understanding how our narratives are filled with something countercultural yet intuitive when we decide to share our lived experiences in community. This year’s theme also highlights the everyday courage required to face grief, illness, caregiving, and dying—and the collective action needed to create a more compassionate world. Founded by Dr. Shoshana Ungerleider in 2017, End Well has become a leading movement redefining approaches to life’s end.

Rooster & Hen is attending for the first time this year as we have heard that this conference puts creative and compassionate storytelling at its core. And that is what we are about! There are writers, creatives, and producers, We cannot wait to connect with other helpers in the community and learn more ways to help our families and communities!
