On-Demand at
Guardian Lane

The process was so fun…

When our founder and Chief Education Officer Rebecca Wu got out her phone camera and instantly became both a film director and cinematographer as we recorded videos for Guardian Lane’s online platform!

For a good two hours, Rebecca caught a glimpse of what life would be like as a video content creator (minus the editing). And she loved every second of it! Not only did it satisfy her childhood longing to become an actor but more important, it helped create more on-demand videos for kids and teens on their grief journey.

From her experience in working with youth, Rebecca knows that it can be hard for many kids to truly connect and bond with friends on a deep level. When a death becomes a part of life, it can feel even more awkward to do so. She knows that was definitely how she felt when she was eight years old and her grandfather died. It felt like a huge secret that none of her friends, classmates, or teachers were supposed to know or talk about. Yet, that loss consumed a lot of Rebecca’s thoughts and feelings. It felt like there wasn’t a safe place to go where others accepted and understood what she was experiencing.

Fast forward to the present, grief is fortunately more normalized and there are far more resources for young people be it books, music, or blogs. And now, with Guardian Lane, there are also on-demand videos from counselors, educators, and authors who care about helping kids process and heal.

As a new member of the Guardian Lane Family, Rebecca recorded a special interactive read-aloud of Moving In Forever and also taught an art project to help express the memories, thoughts, and feelings after a loved one dies.
