Grief in Every Language: Hands-On Tools for Reaching the Whole Child (Copy)

  • St. Luke's Magic Valley (Oak Rooms) 801 Pole Line Road W Twin Falls, ID 83301 United States (map)

This one-day, interactive workshop offers a compassionate space to explore grief through the lens of how children learn and grow. Grounded in an understanding of cognitive, social, and emotional development, this session highlights the importance of honoring diverse learning styles when supporting children who are grieving.

Through dialogue, experiential activities, creative expression, and storytelling, this session offers a starting point for meaningful dialogue around how to stay flexible and curious in order to meet children where they are. Participants will actively engage with a range of developmentally-informed strategies. Together, we’ll explore how grief is processed differently depending on how a child receives and expresses information—whether through movement, art, language, play, reflection, or otherwise.

Participants will gain practical tools for modifying grief support to meet individual needs, and for creating emotionally attuned environments where children feel seen, heard, and supported. We’ll challenge grief myths, experiment with adaptable storytelling techniques, and build confidence in offering presence-driven, responsive support for all types of learners.
