Sustainable Mental Health Roundtable

Sustainable Mental Health Roundtable
Date: April 25, 2025
Venue/City: Chicagoland
Audience: District Level Educators, Counselors, Social Workers
We’re so grateful for the opportunity to attend and host a table at the recent district event, where we shared our passion for approaching grief through art and storytelling. It was inspiring to connect with so many social workers and program directors who are eager to integrate art into social-emotional learning-a mission that’s at the heart of Rooster and Hen Resources.
We heard many stories: preschoolers missing family and friends who have been deported, children afraid to go to school, and educators dealing with the challenges of absenteeism, school refusal, and grief in the classroom. As we listened, heads nodded and voices joined in recognizing the need for creative and caring solutions, especially when it comes to helping children process grief.
We know we can’t tackle every challenge all at once, but our kids are experiencing all of these struggles simultaneously. That’s why building a strong network of helpers in our communities is so important. One visitor stopped by our table searching for books and resources that go beyond the “typical”-tools that students can truly relate to. It was wonderful to introduce her to some of our tailored offerings.
Sustainable mental health support takes many forms, and each of us has a role to play. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our children.
We look forward to continuing these important and meaningful conversations.
