    The Creator's Canvas: A Self-Portrait Journey
Dates: October 25, 2025
Venue/City: Park Community Church, Chicago
Audience: Women
Dispelling negative self-talk. Walking through the many stages of life. Pausing to notice where joy and hope begin. These were the quiet “objectives” of our self-portrait journey.
Sometimes we find ourselves in seasons we never expected—standing at a crossroads between what was dreamed and what became. There can be grief there, for unmet expectations or unfulfilled dreams. Yet, alongside the ache, there is joy, light, and hope. Holding both reminds us that our worth is not measured by what happens to us, or by what we achieve or don’t achieve—it simply is. We have intrinsic value.
Through artful and reflective exercises with twenty women, we leaned into vulnerability and honesty—with ourselves and one another. Together, we uncovered the beauty in what was, what is, and what could be. Each of us painted an abstract portrait of our journey—from little girl to grown woman—anchored by affirmations that spoke of power, resilience, and hope for the works in progress we continue to be.
